The title pages and endpapers from mostly 20th century classics of cultural science and philosophy photographed for this work group show keywords with page numbers handwritten by an unknown reader. They illustrate the individual access to a text that comes with perusal, and visualize the situational character of reading. Here the subjectivity of the reader corresponds with the contingency of any hermeneutics. Thus, independently of the words used in a book, and index entries by the publisher, distinct networks of terms, individual key words each, are thrown over a given text.
